History
The dream for a Christian school in Kidron began over 45 years ago. Ground breaking ceremonies were held on November 26, 1959. This exciting day marked the beginning of the first Mennonite secondary school in Ohio. Two months after ground breaking, excavation and leveling began, and on April 12, 1960, construction began. The school opened in the fall of 1961 with eight faculty members, four support personnel, and 156 students in grades 9-12, under the skilled leadership of superintendent Clayton Swartzentruber.

Since 1961, the facilities and student body have seen numerous expansion. In fall of 1985, grades seven and eight were added to the student body. In fall of 1998, grade six was added. In 2000, the Learning Center began, and the school's name could no longer accurately be Central Christian High School. Central Christian School now includes the high school (grades 9-12), middle school (grades 5-8), and elementary school (PreK-grade 4). The addition of the Performing Arts Center and a second gymnasium in 1990, tennis courts in 1995, the middle school wing in 1997, and the music wing in 2003 have made Central Christian School what it is today: a stunning, state-of-the-art facility on a beautiful 60-acre campus.

Central Christian School is owned and operated by the Ohio Conference of the Mennonite Church. Central Christian is accredited by the State of Ohio and is a member of the Mennonite Education Agency.
